The inaugural Books by the Banks: Cincinnati USA Book Festival scheduled for Saturday, November 3, from 10am-6pm at the Duke Energy Center will celebrate and promote the joy and reading of books. The day-long festival will feature more than 85 regional and national authors of fiction, history, mystery, biography, travel, non-fiction, children's literature, and more. Books by the Banks brings readers and authors together!

			Suspense, Romance, Obsession

			Bestselling author Karen Robards answers questions about how she got started and her writing process. Karen shares a sneak peek at the prologue for the book she was working on during down time during the Books By the Banks Festival. Books By The Banks is an annual book festival organized by CET, The Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County, Cincinnati Magazine, The Mercantile Libary, University of Cincinnati Libraries, and Borders.

			Cooking Up a Good Romance

			Romance writers Diane Castell, Rosemary Laurey, Lori Foster, and LuAnn McClain lead an entertaining and energetic panel discussion at the 2007 Books by the Banks Festival. What is your life like when you are a busy author? What lessons have they learned that they can share with aspiring writers? Where do they get ideas for characters? How did they get started? The authors also share information about the collaborations they do as fund raisers for causes dear to them.

			Emi and the Rhino Scientist

			Learn how the Cincinnati Zoo successfully bred a Sumatran Rhino as author Mary Kay Carson and photographer Tom Uhlman discuss the making of their latest book, Emi and Rhino Scientist. This panel discussion from the 2007 Books By the Banks Festival was moderated, by Dr. Monica Stoops, a rhino scientist. Dr. Stoops shares information on the types of rhinos.

			Science Fiction writer Tobias Buckell, author of Ragamuffin talks about his inspiration for writing his novels. Tobias explains how he got interested in blogging and why he feels it is a great outlet for his writing.

			Authors Robert Morgan (Boone, Gap Creek), Dark Rain Thom (Warrior Woman), and James Alexander Thom (Follow the River, Panther in the Sky) discuss how the coming of white people to the Ohio Valley was an integral turning point in the history of the whites and the Native Americans. This panel discussion was part of 2007 Books By the Banks.
