CET Receives Two Regional Emmy Nominations From National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences

CINCINNATI – CET, channel 48/WCET, has been nominated by the Ohio Valley Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for two regional Emmy awards for work on local programming and multimedia curriculum for educators.

CET’s recent multimedia curriculum kit, You at the Zoo, is nominated in the “Interactivity” category. The project includes videos aimed to teach students in grades three through eight about interdependence for life, heredity, diversity and scientific inquiry. Videos include a range of topics including: classifications of birds, how plants survive thanks to special adaptations in their makeup, what it takes for a species to survive from generation to generation, and more.

All videos and additional teacher resources were made available to area schools and can be viewed online at www.youatthezoo.org. You at the Zoo videos are hosted by Thane Maynard, Director of the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden, also one of the project’s partners. CET also partnered with its sister station in Dayton, ThinkTV, on the project.

CET Production Specialist Paul Verhagen also received an Emmy nomination for his work on the ThinkTV magazine program, Our Ohio. The weekly series, which airs on Sundays at noon on CET, introduces the people and places that make the Buckeye state unique. For more information on Our Ohio, visit www.ourohio.org.
