Voices of Giving: Brian Brinkmoeller
Nominated by: Children, Inc.
Brian Brinkmoeller began his relationship with Children, Inc. as a single parent of three little girls, two of whom were enrolled at Cathedral Child Development Center. He and his family became part of the Children, Inc. family, and when times were tough, Children, Inc. committed to serving his daughters even when he could not afford the tuition.
Brian’s fortunes later improved. Now a successful business owner, Brian has made it his goal to “give back” to Children, Inc. for all the support he and his family received. This includes not only personal financial support, but also serving on the Children, Inc. Board and raising awareness and funds to support its mission.
Brian has created the Monica Hughes Children’s Fund at the Greater Cincinnati Foundation. This charitable fund is an endowment which supports low-income families who cannot afford the tuition for Children, Inc. programs. These are families who faced the same worries and concerns that he and his family did when his daughters were little.
The Monica Hughes Children’s Fund commemorates the work of a young teacher at Cathedral Center who died suddenly at age 32, the very teacher who treated Brian and his family “as her own.”
Brian is also working with Children, Inc. and the Hughes family on a campaign to grow this endowed fund. This will ensure that Children, Inc. will always be able to serve children, regardless of their financial situation, who are in the greatest need.
Children, Inc. is honored to recognize Brian Brinkmoeller for his inspirational example and enduring dedication to the lives of children and the ability of Children, Inc. to serve them, one and all.
