Voices of Giving: Charles Ellman

Nominated by: Cincinnati Public Radio - WGUC

Charles Ellman has been an avid listener and great supporter of WGUC for at least the past 30 years – if not longer. As a retired accountant, he is keenly aware of WGUC’s need to be financially stable both for today and for the future. That is why he has been so devoted and dedicated with his time and his treasure to make sure WGUC, and the culture of classical music it provides, continue to exist in our community.

Charles consistently contributes a substantial amount to the station each year and has done so even when he has not been living in Cincinnati. Over the past year, he has also been an important volunteer for the WGUC Development Department.

In 1999, with great dedication and foresight, Charles established a charitable trust that will benefit WGUC and other charities. Charles wishes his gift to be “a gift that keeps on giving.” Thus, his trust will provide a steady stream of annual operating funds for WGUC in perpetuity. Charles designed his planned gift to ensure the financial well-being of WGUC even as generations of classical music listeners age and as annual membership gifts are flat or in decline.

WGUC is honored to recognize Charles Ellman as a treasured member of its extended family and will be forever grateful for his enduring commitment to its mission – both now and far into the future.
