Voices of Giving: Mary Ann Stansfield
For the past 95 years, no child has ever been denied an education at St. Rita School for the Deaf due to financial hardship. Endowed scholarship funds provide more than $3,000,000 each year - so that hearing impaired students can learn to communicate and express all their talents to their fullest potential.
No one understands how ''life changing'' this is more than Mary Ann Stansfield. She has dedicated 38 years to the ministry of St. Rita's - as a teacher, principal and Director of Special Services. Now, in retirement, she continues to be an extraordinary ambassador for the school throughout the community. She has created the Mary Ann Stansfield Scholarship Fund to make sure all the miracles - large and small - she has witnessed with St. Rita students and families will continue and multiply far into the future. She wants the unique ministry of St. Rita's to flourish in caring for the ''whole person'' - socially, emotionally, intellectually, physically and spiritually. And with Mary Ann's generous estate gift - indeed, St. Rita and its invaluable work will continue to thrive.
